Albert Cooper

December 28, 1956 — February 4, 2025

Logan, WV

Albert Cooper, 68, of Logan, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he spent the majority of his life in Logan, where he built a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. Albert was a man of great service and commitment. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and dedicated his career to helping others as an EMT, a coal miner, and an employee of the Logan County Commission. His mining co-workers knew him simply as “Coop,” a name that carried with it the respect of those who worked alongside him. Above all, Albert was a family man. He was a devoted husband to Pamela Cooper and a loving father to Albert Cooper Jr. (Krystal), Marty Green (Elizabeth), Bridgette Thomas (Jason), Becky Cooper, Dennis Cooper (Amanda), Lisa Estep (Bobby), Elizabeth Allen (JR), and Annie Belle Cooper. He was blessed with 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored, especially his “Papaw’s girls.” His special nephew, Josh Cooper, also held a dear place in his heart. Albert is also survived by his brothers Roger Cooper (Joan), Rickey Cooper (Mary), and Jerry Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cooper Sr. and Virginia Cooper, as well as his siblings, Ronnie Cooper, Timmy Cooper, and Gloria Cooper. Albert found joy in the simple things—spending time with his family, sharing laughter with his grandchildren, and casting a fishing line into the water. His warmth, strength, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A service to honor Albert’s life will be held at Akers-James Funeral Home on Saturday February 8, 2025 at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, February 7, 2025, also at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
