Barbara (Big B) Joe Evans

Barbara Joe “Big B” Evans, 73, of Verdunville passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born July 8, 1940 at Holden, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Vance and Minnie Blankenship Vance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Don Vance, Harlan Vance, Tennis Vance, and Willis Vance and three sisters: Zonie Vance, Imogene Vance, and Jimolee Workman. Barbara attended the Maryetta United Baptist Church in Whitman, WV. Those left to love and cherish the memory of Barbara and to mourn her passing include one son, James Joseph Bryant of Catawba, North Carolina, one daughter Leslie Caroline Bryant of Verdunville, two grandsons: Shane “Poke” Copley and Michael “Stiny” Nelson, and a host of other dear family and friends. Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Maryetta United Baptist Church in Whitman from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the church with Rev. Lonnie Gore Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Vance Cemetery. Barbara will be carried to rest by her family.
