Barbara S. Ross, 71 of Shamrock passed away on January 10, 2019 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 23, 1947 in Logan County to the late Charles Wilson and Lou Cinda (Evans) Vannatter. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her husband of 43 years, Emory R. Ross; 3 brothers, Charles W. Vannatter Jr., Harry G. Vannatter, and Donald R. Vannatter; 7 sisters, Pearl Thomas, Eunice M. Dempsey, Clara B. McCoy, Nora Jean Vannatter, Helen L. Vannatter, Mary Alice Vannatter, and Doris L. McKnight.
Barbara formerly worked for the U.S. Government in Washington D.C., Justice Motel, Food King, and Briarwood Inn. She was a member of the American Red Cross for 55 plus years. She was also the first woman to join the Cora Volunteer Fire Department in Logan County and was a member of AARP.
She is survived by: her loving daughter, Cinda Rae Ross of Shamrock; special grandson whom she loved dearly, Andrew Blake Workman of Shamrock; brother, Leslie (Martha) Vannatter of Chapmanville; special sister-in-law, Brenda K. Vannatter of Shamrock; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, 2 very special girls, Lauren and Britney, and many loving friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday January 14, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday January 13, 2019 also at the funeral home.
