Bobby Burnette Jr.

January 24, 1964 — June 16, 2023

Logan, WV

It is with great sadness that the family of Bobby Edward Burnette Jr, also known as Eddie, Ed and Big Ed, announce his sudden passing on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Eddie was born on January 24, 1964 to the late Bobby Edward Sr and Patricia Ann Morris Burnette in Logan, WV.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Harvey & Gertrude Hughes Burnette and maternal grandparents, James & Ruby Wingler Morris. As well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and special cousin, James “J.J.” Dickerson Jr.

Eddie was a 1982 graduate of Logan High School and of the Christian faith. A few short years after graduation, he became disabled by schizophrenia. This was a battle that he fought for the rest of his life, but a battle that he took on with an incredible amount of bravery and perseverance. He may have had social deficits, but Eddie still loved being with people, especially his family whom he loved so very much.

Eddie loved to listen to music, he enjoyed family gatherings, sketching and watching football. In particular, he loved the WVU Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed caring for any stray dog that happened by the neighborhood. Two strays that captured his heart were Marble and Mama Dog. Eddie would walk the neighborhood, talking with people and would make his nightly rounds watching over the women who worked third shift at Go Mart, Speedway and Seven Eleven. All along, Marble and Mama Dog by his side.

Eddie is survived by siblings; Kathy (Curtis) Ball, Teresa (Michael) Dingess, Steven (Angela) Burnette, Leslie (Anthony) Toppins and honorary sibling: Kimberly (Timmy) Faine.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Amanda (Michael) Tomblin, Ashley (Patrick) Dingess, Monica (Joseph) Mendez, Eric (Allison) Burnette, Chase Burnette, Chad Burnette, Jared Burnette, Christian Toppins, Alexander Toppins and honorary niece Courtney Hoosier.

As well as great nieces and nephews; Mikayla Tomblin, Landen Tomblin, Teagan Dingess, Cason Dingess, Palmer Burnette, Presleigh Burnette and honorary great nephew Silas Hoosier.

Funeral services will be at 1pm Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Bishop Michael Hartwell officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville, WV. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at 1pm.

Maybe Eddie didn’t always have the words to relate to other people, but he had the best of intentions, and he truly loved the people in his life. We loved Eddie and are so grateful for the time, laughter and love we have shared with him…besides, really what else is there in life to accomplish but to love and to be loved?

Eddie, you loved us well and we loved you. We will miss you terribly until we see you again.
