Brenda Elaine McCoy

Brenda Elaine McCoy, 62 of Rita departed this life February 4, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington after a short battle with cancer. 

She was born October 3, 1961 in Logan to the late Robert L. And Madeline (Thompson) Hanshaw. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Alvin McCoy; mother-in-law, Martha Elizabeth (Gillispie) McCoy; father-in-law, Clyde McCoy; brothers, Marshall, Larry, Benny, Ronnie Sr. , and two infant siblings. 

She leaves behind her brothers, Johnny (Vickie) Hanshaw of Madison, and Randy Hanshaw of Peach Creek; special cousins, Roger Adkins of Rita, and Rebecca Cooper of Rich Creek; special nephews, Robert “R.C.” (Steven) Hanshaw, and Ronnie Hanshaw both of Peach Creek; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, family, and church family that loved her very much. 

Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, and shopping. she was a sweet, caring, and loving person who will be missed by everyone that knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s who was involved in her care during her final days. We really appreciate the care that was shown for her and our family during this time. 

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday February 9, 2024, at the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Entombment will follow the services.
