Carol J. Wood, age 84, formally from Mitchell Heights passed away peacefully on January 24th. She was a beloved wife to the late Edward J. Wood and a cherished daughter of the late Challis and Dova Workman of Chapmanville.
A devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan, Carol was known for her sweet smile and kindness. She loved her years as a secretary for A.D. “Buster” Scaggs and enjoyed her later years on the golf course, playing cards with her bridge sisters and shopping.
Carol is survived by her devoted sister, Wilma (Kenneth) Zigmond of Mitchell Heights; niece, Kendra (Jon) Schilling of Scott Depot; nephew, Kenny (Natalie) Zigmond of Winfield; and her four most cherished memory makers, great-nieces Kennedy and Sydney Schilling and Kenlie and Kallie Zigmond.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at English Meadows in Scott Depot for their compassionate care and support during Carol’s final months. Your kindness made a significant difference in her life.
Carol will be remembered for her loving spirit, her commitment to her family and friends, and her unwavering faith. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Akers-James Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Visitation starts at 11 A.M. Services at 1P.M. with Rev. Jim Musgrave officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Logan or Hungry Lambs Food Initiative 622 Stratton Street Logan, WV 25601 in Carol’s memory. Pallbearers will be Kenny Zigmond II, Jon Schilling, Darren Akers, Jim Willis Jr, Cliff Motes and Ross Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be William Wallace (Wally) Wagner Sr, Wyatt Scaggs, Ross Scaggs, William Wallace Wagner Jr., and Mark Wagner.
Rest in peace, Carol. Your legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew you.
