On Monday, January 27, 2020, Charles Ray Stover Jr., retired coal miner of 32 years, loving husband, and father of 4 children passed away peacefully at his home following a short illness.
He was born June 16, 1949 at Logan, WV to the late Charles H. âBuckâ & Marie (Jones) Stover. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Juanita (Stollings) Stover; 2 brothers, Billy Ray Dye from Michigan and Charles Bailey from Virginia; and one daughter-in-law, Linda (Armentrout) Stover.
Charles loved spending time with his family, friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his 2 dogs Buttercup and Lilly. He also loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his sons and grandchildren. He was known for his storytelling, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
He is survived by his sons, Charles R. Stover III of Chapmanville, Ronald L. Stover of Lake, and Frankie (Lori) Stover of Lake; daughter, Christine R. Stover of Chapmanville; grandchildren, Timothy (Chiara) Stover, Deanna (Jake) Bryant, Prestyn (Taylor) Stover, Jacob (Destine) Stover, Madison Stover, and Dakota Stover; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Destyni, Lacie, and Sophia; sisters, Willa (Jerry) Frye and Sheila (Albert) Wiggins and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pallbearers will be Timothy Stover, Prestyn Stover, Jacob Stover, Dakota Stover, Jake Bryant, and David Townsend. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 also at the funeral home.
