Mr. Charlie Mack Mounts, 76 years young, gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Joe & Shirley Mounts and was preceded in death by one son, Donald Paul Albright II, five brothers: Teddie R Mounts, John Mounts Sr, Joe Mounts, William Mounts, Milton Mounts and two sisters: Dorothy Fouch and Dorine Ott.
Charlie (Pal) is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carlene (Thugar) Mounts, two brothers: Eddie Mounts {Mary} and Otis Mounts {Judy}, one sister Betty Booth {Ernest}, two sisters-in-law: Kathy Morrison {John} and Elaine Barker, two daughters: Angel Mounts {Bailey} and Chrystal Flassig {Anthony}, two sons: Charlie (Sidy) Mounts {Trena} and John (Bub) Mounts, five grandchildren: Jeremy Grimmett, Erica (Cat Bird) Wilson {Will}, Craig Mounts {Lena}, Michael (Bubba Bean) Mounts and Abby (Abster Paw) Byrd, three great-grandchildren: Liam and Spencer Murphy and Benjamin Mounts, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends including his church family at United Central Baptist Church.
Charlie was a true legend in the EMS and Fire communities in Logan County as he wore many hats. He was a coal miner, paramedic, firefighter, umpire, buck skinner, mason/Shriner/Shriner clown and most importantly, mentor. Many of Logan County’s current first responders either worked with him, for him or were trained by him. Credited for saving so many lives, he received the Sam Channel Award from the governor of West Virginia as well as a life-time achievement award for his dedication and contribution to the EMS community.
Additional thanks to Jerry Mounts, Pam Szucs, Anthony Byrd and Chrystal Flassig for the special care given at home and to Dr. Tipton, Dr. Nick and Dr. Takubo for their exceptional care and dedication.
Visitation will ve on Friday February 24, 2023, starting at 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023, at 11:00 am, both at Central United Baptist Church where he enjoyed worshiping the Lord. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
