Cline “Frank” Franklin Waugh, Jr., 72, of McConnell, WVwent to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, May 11, 2024, after a sudden illness. He was born April 25, 1952, in Logan, WV. Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Robinette Waugh; father, Cline Franklin “Cotton” Waugh, Sr.; and brother, Randy Adams.

Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Lambert Waugh; sons: U.S Air Force Master Sargent (retired) Robert(Allison) Lucas of North Pole, Alaska; Brian (Amy Samples)F. Waugh of Charleston; Ryan J. Waugh of Chapmanville, and daughter: Jillian (Jarrod) E. Abbott of Hartseight grandchildren: Kaitlynn (Daniel) Lucas Ward, Jolie Lucas, Zachary Lucas, Mikey Waugh, Luke Waugh, Ruger Waugh, Kerrigan Abbott, and Grant Abbott; one great-grandchild Lyla Ward; four soon to be grandchildren: Morgan Warner, Josh (Emily) Warner, Luke Samples, and Eli Samples; four soon to be great-grandchildren: Bryce Warner, Brock Warner, Isla Balbuena, and Banks Balbuena; one brotherand best friend: Donald (Lisa) A. Waugh of Orangeburg, SC, one sister: Gloria Sue (Otto) Vance of MyrtlBeach, SC, and close cousin who was like a sister: Helena Tomblin of Harts. 

Frank was lifelong resident of McConnell (severalresidents there considered Frank the mayor of McConnell because of it) and he attended the First Baptist Church of McConnellFrank enjoyed interacting with his church familyMr. Waugh was a 1970 graduate of Logan High School. Frank was a truck driver for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. Frank won safe driving awards year after year and was a state driver of the year in 2006. He held notoriety among his co-workers and peers with three million driving miles without an at fault accident. At the beginning of his work service, Frank welded at local machine shops for Jack Ferrell and then Joe Crum at Logan Mine Welder ServiceHe started out driving for the state haulingcommodities from 1972-1974 and then was a route salesmanfor Meadow Gold Dairies from 1975-1988 at Melville, one year of cross country driving for Commercial Transport (North American), and he drove tankers for Petroleum Products (Maxum/Pilot Thomas) from 1991-2009 out of Mt. Gay. Frank’s “CB radio handle” was “Bull Rider”.

Frank was a big General Motors and Dale Earnhardt fan. One of his favorites sayings was, “If it isn’t GM, it won’t G-O. Frank drove two vehicles over the last 37 years of his life, one being a 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS and his 1998 Z71 Chevy Silverado. Frank enjoyed watching and attending auto races (Memorial Day weekend races were his favorite), watching professional golf, watching the “Big Red Machine” baseball team back in the 1970’s, and enjoyedfollowing the Logan “Runnin Wildcats” during the 1960’s and 70’s. Mr. Waugh was not much on modern technology, but he did enjoy listening to old gospel hymns and Bluegrass and older country music songs on his Alexa. Frank lived for Sunday’s as it was his favorite day of the week and loved to live by his routine that day by reading the newspapers, going to church, having dinner and spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching sports, and lastly having a cup of coffee catching up on local news with his coffee drinking buddies at Wendy’sMr. Waugh also kept up with many of his old friends that he grew up with in McConnell and worked with over the years periodically by talking to them by telephone including Eddie Swiney, Charlie “Hoppy” Hopkins, Tommy England, Frank Cole, Kenny Nelson, Rick White, and Huey Samuels. One ofFrank’s favorite things to do was quote John 3:16 when asked if he went to church. Frank will forever be remembered for his laid-back personality and being loyaland dedicated to his family, friends, occupations, and his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Friends and family will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. 

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratefulness to Dr. Rahda and his staff, all the loving and caring people at First Baptist Church of McConnell and Word of Life Church, and Greg Dotson and his staff at Giovanni’s Pizza of Logan. Family and friends may call at Word of Life Church at Mud Fork from 6-9 P.M. on Friday, May 17 and funeral services will be at Word of Life Church on Saturday, May 18 at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill. Pastor Josh Vanhook, Pastors John E. Godby, and Jonathan “Bub” Godby, will be conducting the service. Arrangements are under the care of Akers-James Funeral Home in Aracoma/West Logan.
