Curtis Johnathan Wellman, 34 of Logan passed in the care of medical professionals, November 11, 2022, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
CJ, as most knew him was a guitar enthusiast, musician, father, avid video gamer, and flight simulator hobbyist. He played for the 2005 Logan Wildcat State Basketball Championship team. His father and grandfather were both Freemasons of the Aracoma Lodge 99, something he was proud of.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Dakota Brianne Wellman and Haddie Demira Wellman; his wife of 6 years, Emma Ruth Hannah-Wellman; his loving parents, John Curtis and Debra Ellen Wellman; a plethora of special friends, Robert Schultz, Jeff Gosien, Emily Patterson, Barbara Osborne, Gavin Adams (his work dad), Justin Bailey, Jordan Calandros, Sherry Peak, and Antonio D. Clemens.
He wished for everyone to play a song in memory he thought was humorous, “So you can, send me dead flowers every morning, send me dead flowers by the US mail, send me dead flowers to my wedding, and I won’t forget to put flowers on your grave.”
Honoring his wishes his remains have been cremated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Camp Kno Koma, 364 Patterson Dr No. 284 Morgantown, WV 26505 304-559-7351 as CJ spent many childhood summers there. Special thanks to everyone who has called, messaged, and offered support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Akers-James Funeral Home, Logan, WV.
