Deloris Jean Carter

Deloris Jean Carter passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck, Texas, at age 78. Mrs. Carter, formerly of Yolyn, West Virginia, had been residing in Thornton, TX with her son, John B. Carter and his wife, Lisa since October 2007. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter was then transported to James Funeral Home in Logan, West Virginia, where the family visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at the James Funeral Home with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating with interment to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, West Virginia. Deloris (Owsley) Carter was born March 1, 1931 to John Bennett Owsley and Mary (Cornett) Owsley in Inez, Kentucky. She grew up in Logan County, West Virginia, and was united in marriage with Billy Carter. They lived most of their life in Yolyn, West Virginia. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Billy Carter who passed away October 3, 1995; and by three brothers, Billy Owsley, Harold Owsley, and Richard Owsley. She is survived by three sons, John B. Carter and wife, Lisa of Thornton, Texas, Ronald F. Carter and wife Retha of Stollings, West Virginia, and David M. Carter of Stollings, West Virginia; and one daughter, Brenda K. Davis of Rohnert Park, California; a sister, Peggy Terry and husband John of Ohio; and three brothers, Johnny Ray Owsley and wife Gay of Pecks Mill, West Virginia, Dewey Owsley and wife Darlene of Branchland, WV, and Carlos Owsley and wife Barbara of Ohio. Also she is survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
