Mr. Donald Ray Vannatter 69 of Verdunville departed this life on Sunday March 20, 2011 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Mr. Vannatter was born May 26, 1941 a son of the late Charles and Lou Cindia Vannatter. Besides his parents Mr. Vannatter was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Bonnie Ruth Vannatter, granddaughter Emma Ruth Vannatter, siblings Clara McCoy, Nora Vannatter, Doris McKnight, Eunice Dempsey, Pearl Thomas, Helen Vannatter, Mary Vannatter, Charles Vannatter Jr. and Harry Vannatter.
Mr. Vannatter was a graduate of Logan High School Class of 1959. He served in the US Army. During his life Mr. Vannatter worked for Valley Bell, Purity Maid and Logan County School System. He and his wife were members of the First Baptist Church of McConnell. Don was a sports enthusiaist. Don also enjoyed making and sharing birdhouses and playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. Vannatter's surviving family includes Rhonda and James Baisden of Kenai, Alaska, Donald "Bo" Vannatter of Jersey City, New Jaersey and Charles and Karen Vannatter of Princeton, WV. Paw Paw Don will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Daniel Vannatter of Queens, New York, James Vannatter of Logan, WV, James Baisden II, Samuel Baisden and Sarah Baisden of Kenai, Alaska and Logan Vannatter of Princeton, WV. Don also leaves behind many loving friends and extended family which he cared for greatly.
A service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be no graveside service and there will be no visitation. Inlieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Emma's Touch Foundation P.O. Box 1411 Princeton, WV 24640 (Emmastouch.org) which was dear to Don's heart.
