Edith Horne, 85 of Whitman, WV passed away Saturday May 26, 2018 at Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan with her sister Bonnie by her side after a long battle with Alzheimerâs Disease.
She was born August 26, 1932 at Holden, WV to the late Eustace Flowers and Gita Gilkerson Flowers. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her husband, Herman Edward Horne; her son, Kyle âBobâ Horne; and her brother, Lloyd âRedâ Flowers.
Edith was a long-time resident of Whitman, WV. She was an active member of the #14 Whitman Freewill Baptist Church. Her church family was extremely important to her and she loved each one with all her heart.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her sisters, Bonnie Welch of Holden; and Norma Sperry of Alabama; her brother Ed (Lois) Flowers of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Sherry Flowers of Mill Creek; her granddaughters, Luann (Eric) Likens of Hewett, and Nicole (Brandon) Tomblin of Holden; great-grandchildren, Erica, MaKella, Hunter, and Haven Likens all of Hewett, and Brayden Tomblin of Holden. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and her church family that she loved dearly and cherished.
Edith loved her family beyond measure. She was full of grace, wisdom, and beauty. She was always smiling and always offering to feed whoever came to her home. Heaven gained a beautiful angel and she is now walking the streets of gold and holding hands with her husband Herman and son Bob.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 30, 2018 at the #14 Whitman Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Pallbearers will be: Hunter Likens, Eric Likens, Brandon Tomblin, Josh Chambers, Randy McLemore, and Chris Robertson.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. â 1 p.m. Wednesday also at the church.
