Evelyne Messer, 83, of Dingess went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2008 at Logan Regional Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1924 in Logan to the late Steve and Melvina Porter Hensley. Preceding her in death was her two sisters; Dorathy Walken and Virgie Hensley. Her brother, Pete Hensley and one son, Stevie Michael Messer. One grandson, Paul Hensley, great-great-granddaughter, Hannah Bryant, grand-daughter, Melissa Hensley and one son-in-law, Charles Bryant. Mrs. Messer was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She attended the Verdunville Community Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, David Messer of 63 years and her five children; James (Mary) Messer of Crooked Creek, Oscar Hensley of Dingess, Sadie (Teddy) Browning of Ethel, Katie Bryant of City View and Jewell (Richard) Vance of Painesville, Ohio. Evelyne also had sixteen grandchildren; Tina Messer, Kimberly Hanshaw, Jamie (Charlie) Bryant, Delbert (Pamela) Ball, Donna, Michael and James Hensley. Jennifer (Wayne) Johnson, Jessica (Greg) Evans, Tonya Paitnas, Kathy Donato, Steven, David, Less (Tracey), Anthony (Kerri) and Vicky Bryant. Mrs. Messer also had thirty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Other survivors include one special niece, Nora Jean Scott of Illinios. Evelyne was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved her family very much. She will be sadly missed by all. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home with Rev. Elbert Collins Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Avis Cemetery at Dingess. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Condolences may be left at www.jamesfh.com.
