God graciously called Fred Douglas Hairston (89) home to glory on Tuesday,December 19, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born to the late Henry and Amanda Hairston on November 9, 1934 in Excelsior, WV. He was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Hairston, his son, Gary Lee Perkins and his grandson, Isaac Newton Perkins.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Cora Lee Hairston, brother, Melvin (Mary) Hairston of Harlem, NY, brother/cousin, Marvelle “Mann” Richardson of Omar, WV, brother from another mother, Robert (Beth) Noone of Birmingham, AL, three sons, William “Fitzgerald” Hairston-Phillips of Charlotte, NC, Anthony “Tweety” (Toni) Hairston of Charlotte, NC, adoptedson/grandson, Vanzelle Edward Nibbs II, of Charlotte, NC, daughter, Amanda Sher’Ron (Rodrick) Muhammad of Charlotte, NC, daughter-in-law, Carita Perkins of Grove City, OH, five grandchildren, LeNisse (Will) Sanders of Columbus, OH, Elisa Perkins of Columbus, OH, Antonio Hairston of Charlotte, NC, Ashna Hairston of Charlotte, NC & Janelle Henderson of Charlotte, NC, four great grandchildren, Cedric Sanders, Ciera Sanders, Carita Sanders and Daiaunna Perkins all of Columbus, OH. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.. Acknowledging a special niece Deborah Beatty, nephew, Dwayne Cureton, cousins, Ronald Cross and Joan Hairston. Godsons, Jim Goldie and Morgan Montgomery.
