Garfield Maynard, 86, of Godby Heights passed away Tuesday May 1, 2007 in Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1919 at Harts, a son of the late Lewis and Amanda Boothe Maynard. Preceding him in death was a grand-daughter, Lori Ann Maynard and one son, Thomas (Tom) Maynard in March 1999. Seven sisters and four brothers before him; Victoria, Hattie, Georgia, Stella, Sarah, Annabelle, Lola, Tom Pat, Raymond, George and Millard. Mr. Maynard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired employee of Petroleum Products at Mt. Gay. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at Beech Grove. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Edna Chambers Maynard. One loving daughter, Delores Strathdee of Godby Heights. One son, Fred Evans of West Hamlin and one very special grand-daughter whom he raised as his own, Nicole (Joseph) Thomas of Lynchburg, VA. One brother, Woodrow (Muriel) Maynard of Godby Heights. Visitation will be Thursday April 3, 2007 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday April 4, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Stiltman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be; Jimmy Chambers, Gilbert Dingess, Verlin McNeely, Bill Stevens, J.C.
