Mr. Gary Evans, 67 of Verdunville, WV went home to be with his heavenly father Sunday, June 14, 2020 at UK Healthcare in Lexington, KY following a well fought battle with several health issues. His family is amazed by his strength and determination up until his very last breath, which we know god has counted in advance.
He was born October 26, 1952 at Logan, WV the son of the late Everett and Alberta Evans. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Lee Evans and Freddie Evans. He was a son-in-law to the late Leroy and Minnie Sipple.
Gary was a faithful member of Yuma Church of Christ. A retired coal miner and was a lifelong resident of Mud Fork, where he thought he was the Mayor.
He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 47 years, Christine Evans; daughter whom cherished him, Angel Ray; grandchildren whom he loved and adored with his whole heart, Madison Paige Ray, Maci Gara Ray, and Dustin Ray; sisters, Bonnie (Ben) Lambert, Connie Bush, Candy Brewer, Tammie Aleshire, and Iva Blankenship; brother, Ralph (Nellie) Evans; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Preacher Denney Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Holestein, Dustin Ray, Caleb Lawson, Reinhardt Evans, Christopher Butcher, and Landon Vannatter. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Lambert, Ralph Evans, Arlie Bush Jr., Billy Sipple, Marvin Maynard, Herman Patterson, Harold Evans Jr., and Steve Vance.
