Gary D. Whisman, 75, of Ethel, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Born October 14, 1942, at Dehue, WV, he was the son of the late Roy Whisman, Sr. and Inez Beavers Whisman. In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Freda Dennison Whisman, brother Roy Whisman, Jr. and sister-in-law Ethel Childers Whisman Beha.
A graduate from Logan Senior High School, Gary was a coal miner, wonderful father, grand-father, brother, uncle and friend and a man that loved the Lord. He attended the New Hope Assembly of God church in Switzer, WV.
Survivors include his daughters: Tammy (John) Peyton of Fairlawn, Ohio, and Angela (Page) Vannatter and grand-daughter Savannah Page Vannatter, of Ethel; sisters-in-law Wilma (Chester) Ball of Lake, WV and Rudy Dennison of Hatfield Bottom, WV along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doing the honor of pallbearers include: John Peyton, Page Vannatter, Chester Ball, Brian Ball, Chad Ball and Roy K. Whisman. Honorary pallbearers, Terry Whisman and Xander Whisman.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, September 28th and funeral service will be held Saturday, September 29th, at 11 a.m., at Akers-James Funeral Home, Logan, WV, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Shane Dennison will be officiating.
