Gene Edward Farmer, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of Logan County, WV passed away at the age of 73 in Melville, WV on April 7, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Farmer, his mother, Carmella Grabowski, and other special family members Fern Crane, Clyde Lucas, Mildred Crane, and Dallas Crane.
Gene was a retired school teacher from Chapmanville High School where he taught for over 30 years. He graduated from Man High School and soon after he joined the United States Airforce, he then went on to Marshall University where he graduated with a Masterâs in Education. Gene was of Baptist faith.
Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Mountaineers and Thundering Herd. He enjoyed traveling to games and talking to his sons about the play by plays. Gene cherished every single moment he spent with his energetic grandson MJ. He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Gilda Sue Fenner Farmer; his sons Scott Rethel (Rachel) Farmer, and Todd Edward (Shyloe) Farmer; sister, Renee Workman of Huntington, WV; brother, Johnnie Farmer of Portsmouth, OH; grandson, Maddux Jet Farmer; and special loved ones Grace Lucas, Sheila Propst, Dave Lucas, and Tom Lucas.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2016 at James Funeral Home in Logan. Family will gather from 5-6 p.m. with visitation being held from 6-8 p.m. Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Dave Lucas officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks the donations be made to the youth group at Central United Baptist Church in Logan.
