Hershel Lee Brown Sr., 79 of Logan departed this life Sunday December 11 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 29, 1937 in Logan to the late Howard and Matilda Daniels Brown. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: four brothers, James I. Brown, Arly Brown, Parker Brown, and Gene Brown; 3 sisters, Irene Gross of Holden, Ernestine Saunders of Snap Creek, and Madeline Frye of Pigeon Roost; and one great-grandchild, Alexis.
Mr. Brown was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of the Logan Auxillary Club. He was a retired TV Repair Technician having worked for the Zenith Corp. in Chicago, IL.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 52 years, Shelvia (Toler) Brown; sons, Hershel Lee Brown Jr. of Logan and Tim Justice of Kentucky; daughters, Beverly Brown (David) VanMeter of Logan, Ursula Brown of Logan, Ronika (Daniel) Hall of Logan, Shelia (Rex) Conley of Holden, Lisa Brown, Nikki Brown, and Becky Brown all of Virginia; sister Violet Davis of Florida; grandchildren, Scotty, Jennifer, Corey, Sha, Michael, Tyler, Ciara, and Ashlyn; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Tray, Riley, Sawyer, Keaton, Landon, Lacey, and Kaylee. He is also survived by a special niece Gloria Maynard and special nephew, Danny Saunders and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday December 17 at Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan with Scotty Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday also at the funeral home.
