Hursten Swiney of West Logan, a loving husband, brother, father, papaw and friend, 92 of West Logan departed this life on Monday, January 1, 2007 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Hursten was a 50 year member of the Masonâs Odell Lodge in Madison. He was employed by Appalachian Power for 42 years and Baisden Brothers, Inc. for 12 years. Hursten enjoyed wood crafting, repairing lawn equipment, gardening, feeding the birds and ducks of West Logan and most of all being a papaw.
He was born on December 28, 1914 in 4-mile of Lincoln County, the son of the late Martha Tooley Drenner and Hursten Swiney. Also preceding him in death were his two brothers Frank Drenner, Jr., Nathan Drenner; one sister Laura Drenner; his first wife Gaie Swiney; two daughters Donna Blackburn and Peggy Soler; and one son David Browning; three grandchildren Mike Hainer, Greg Hainer and Chris Hainer; and two great grandchildren Jerron and Braxton Adams.
Those left to cherish his memory include a loving wife of 29 years Ruth Browning Swiney of West Logan; two daughters Jo Ann (Jerry) Hainer of West Logan, Brenda (Jim) Baxter of Logan; one daughter in-law Barbara Browning of Logan; two sisters Irene Pucket of Logan and Pauline Midkiff of Logan; eight grandchildren Kellie (Chuck) Watts of Huntington, Staci (Chris) Detamore of Ohio and Jason Holstein of Huntington,
Jason Browning of Logan, Jamie Browning of West Logan, Mark Hainer of Louisville, Ky., Bek (Rob) Adams of Chapmanville, Jimmy (Jenny) Baxter of Chapmanville; six great grandchildren David Watts and Alexandria Detamore; Jacy and Jarrah Baxter; Scout Adams and Greyson Hainer.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM at the West Logan Church of God on Friday January 5, 2007 with the Reverend James Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Huntington. Friends may call from 6:00 PM â 9:00 PM at the church on Thursday January 4, 2007.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hainer, Jimmy Baxter, Jason Browning, Jason Holstein, David Watts, Rob Adams, Chris Detamore and Chuck Watts.
