Ira âDarrellâ Moore, 77 of Crooked Creek, WV passed away Monday June 18, 2018 at CAMC Memorial in Charleston, WV after his courageous fight with stomach cancer.
He was born July 21, 1940 at Dehue, WV to the late Hubert and Mary Whitman Moore. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: three brothers, Zane Moore, Arlie Ray Moore, and Vernon Moore; and one sister, Gloria Moore.
Darrell worked as a service repairman for Sears for 30 years. He grew up in Dehue, WV and had many stories to tell of the wonderful times he had in that community. He always made sure to make it to the Dehue Reunion every year, so he could see all those he grew up with.
Darrell was a member and deacon at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church at City View in Logan, WV for over 45 years and loved the Lord more than anything else in his life. He was constantly working for the Lord and was loved by everyone who met him.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 45 years, Mary (Kirk) Moore; one daughter, Kristin âNikkiâ (Franklin) Collins of Holden, WV; one son, Anthony Moore of Crooked Creek, WV; one sister, Mona Miller, of King Shoals, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at CAMC Memorial. A special thank you to the nurses in SICU who took such wonderful care of him during his multiple stays. Also, thank you to the ER staff at Logan Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care he was given.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday June 21, 2018 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Revs. Joaquine Ooten and Cebern Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday June 20, 2018 also at the funeral home.
