Jackie Ray Sargent

d. January 20, 2021

On January 20th, 2021, Jackie Sargent, age 69, of Dingess, WV, rejoiced as he was welcomed into the arms of his Lord. Through his many years of preaching, he touched many of hearts and challenged many of minds with his knowledge of the Bible. He was always faithful to the fact if you read the instructions and tried to apply it to your life, you would always be blessed. After an injury left Jackie unable to continue work as a welder, he pursued and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and years later went on to earn a master’s degree in Community Counseling. He last worked for Logan-Mingo Area Mental Health Center where he helped many with their struggles. Jackie's physical ailments forced him to stop work in 2009, but he never stopped helping those in need. He was born on March 4th, 1951 at Verdunville, WV, to the late Masel and Nellie Sargent. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Roger Hunt, who he loved dearly and considered his son. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Tiffany Maynard Sargent, his two daughters, who he loved beyond measure, Angie Hunt of Laurel Creek, WV, and Jaclyn (Dave) Daniels of Holden, WV, his granddaughters, Lauren Ferris and Mallory Daniels, grandson, Myles Daniels, and great grandson, Rayson Ferris. His grandchildren were the joy that completed his life. He is also survived by 5 sisters, who he loved so very much, Pat Wendel of Lima, Ohio; Loretta June Bryant of Chapmanville, WV; Edna (John) Chapman of Charleston, WV; Joy (Bruce) Walsh of Harts, WV and Mary (Carter)Baisden of Lexington, SC. Jackie had many nieces and nephews that he adored. His special niece, Kendall Maynard lived in the home with him, he loved her, her sister and brother, Patience Perry, and Austin Maynard as his own. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many and will forever be missed on this earth. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor James Ed Baisden officiating. Burial will follow in the Frye Cemetery at Verdunville.
