James Elwood Hill

James Elwood Hill, 68, of Whitman passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at home. He was born the son of the late James F. and Ina L. (Kelly) Hill at #14 Whitman. Also preceding him in death is one brother, Douglas M. Hill. James was a retired service manager. He worked at Rushden Motors, Mike Ferrell Lincoln & Mercury, McGrew Tire and L&S Chevrolet until his retirement. He was a member and trustee of #14 Whitman Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rita (Welch) Hill. Three sons; James Brian (Stephanie) Hill, William Anderson Hill and Kevin Linn (Jennifer) Hill all from Whitman. Five grandchildren; James Nathan Hill, Hunter Ray Hill, Haley Brooke Hill, Jillian Pearl Hill and Kevin Douglas Hill. Two brothers; Robert R. (Linda) Hill of Ashland, Ohio and George G. (Donna) Hill of Valley View. Also surviving James are several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the #14 Whitman Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 4, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the #14 Whitman Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Alvis Porter Jr. and Rev. Henry Damron officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be; James B. Hill, William A. Hill, Chris Hill, John Welch III, Joshua Welch, Joe Dudding, Josh Chambers and Randy McLemore.
