James Clifford Rhodes, 43 of Ethel, WV entered into an eternal state of rest on Saturday, October 26, 2019.
He was born May 3, 1976 at Logan, WV, the beloved son of Leonard and Sheila Kinney of Ethel, WV. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ora and Betty Daniels of Boonescamp, KY, Albert and Julia Kinney of Ft. Branch, WV, and Reba and Willie Clifford Rhodes of Pecks Mill, WV.
James was a combat war veteran during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He began his military career immediately after graduating high school as a United States Marine. He served 4 years and was discharged as a Lance Corporal. He resumed his military career in the United States Army with the Fourth Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, TX. He served 18 years for his country and was medically discharged as a Specialist. James loved to spend time outdoors. He loved hunting, being in the woods, and root digging. He is loved and missed by his family.
In addition to his parents he is also survived by his beloved siblings Carrie (Scott) Parsley of Danville, WV, Paul (Angie) Rhodes of Greenhead, FL, Mark (Kimberly) Rhodes of Danville, WV, Pauline (Eugene) Snyder of Holden, WV, Julia (Daryl) Starkey of Lockbourne, OH, and Albert (Masie) Kinney of Logan, WV; nieces and nephews, Eric, Phillip (Breianna), Emily (Cory), Jade, Austin, McKenna, Kyler, Kaley, Zayne, Avery, Malaya, Piper, Brylee, Milllie Jo, and McKenzee; great-nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Ezekiel; and special cousin, Tammy Webb of Leesburg, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Rev. Scott Parsley and Pastor Mark Meeker officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday October 31, 2019 also at the funeral home.
