Janet Carter Bryant, age 91, of Mathis Addition passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by love from her family and pets. Born April 2, 1933, in Liverpool England, Janet was the only daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Carr also of Liverpool, England. Janet, of Christian faith, attended the Church of Lord of Host in Jesus Name in Mathis Addition.
After retiring from her career as a beautician, Janet decided to add childcare to her occupation and was known as “Granny Janet” to many of the children she lovingly cared for. Janet was a great travel companion, it didn’t matter if it was near or far, all you had to do was ask and she would be ready, purse in and, standing at her front door ready to go.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Carr of Liverpool, England, brother Arnold Carr and sister-in-law, Marjorie Carr both of Liverpool, England, sons-in-law David Miller of Verdunville, WV, Jonathan Nemeth of Danville, WV and daughter, Barbara Carter of Logan, WV.
Janet is survived by her children Sharon Miller of Verdunville, WV, Paul Carter of Dempsey Branch, WV, Dawn (Harvey) Brennan of Switzer, WV, Lizette Carter of Athens, OH, Teresa Carter of Danville, WV and Jennifer (Keith) Alfrey of Verdunville, WV. Grandchildren Maegen (Chris) Brennan of Huntington, WV, Derrick (Marleen) Brennan of Dunbar, WV, Paul Carter of South Charleston, WV, Lacey Carter of South Charleston, WV, Angelina Nemeth of South Charleston, WV, Ian Nemeth of Danville, WV, and Hunter Alfrey of Verdunville, WV. Great grandchildren Trinity, Liam and Aiven Brennan, Gabriel Matthews, Luna Sigmon and one very special friend who Janet loved as a daughter, Shawn (James) Delaney of Ada, MI.
Per Janet’s wishes there will be a private graveside service for family.
