Jean Harden Queen, 91, entered the gates of Heaven on Resurrection Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Born February 22, 1929 at Logan, WV she was the daughter of the late Troy and Hazel Harden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Samuel Queen; brother, John L. Harden; sister, Doris Harden (Dr. Bill) Crigger; brother-in-law, Earle B. Queen; sister-in-law, Radine Queen; special sister/cousin, Margaret (Leroy) Counts; nephew, John âSkipâ Queen; niece Susie Counts; and great-nephew, William Matthew Crigger.
Jean was a graduate of Logan High School and WVU where she earned her masterâs degree. She taught elementary school in Florida, at the old Man High, and Logan High School where she sponsored the Key Club. Giving back to her community was always important to her. She assisted her husband in many, many community programs, served on the Democrat Executive Committee, and Logan County Board of Education. She was a member of the American Legion Post 19 and the Logan Womanâs Club. She served on the Board of Directors for LEASA, was a past member of the First Christian Church of Logan and current member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan. She is survived by her niece/daughter, Janie (Roger) Ramey; sister-in-law, Bernie Wolfe Harden; grandchildren, Christy Jean Ramey Wagner, and Lisa Ray Ramey (Jeff) Potter; great-grandchildren, Molly Rose Wagner, Coleson Samuel Wagner, and Bryson Ramey Potter; niece/child, Stephanie Counts; nephews, Bill (Robyn) Crigger, Dr. Charles David (Mary) Crigger, John O. (Barbara) Harden, Mark (Harry) Queen, Darren (Alice) Akers, Chad (Michelle) Akers, and Nathan (Mary) Queen; nieces, Patty Harden (Del) Fot, Linda Queen (Willie) Akers, Linda Jean Crigger Meadows, Carol Sue Crigger Horn, Cheryl Ann Crigger (Wayne) Morgan, Tina Queen, Fran Queen, LeeAnn Counts (Jim) Rand, and many more niece and nephews.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the CDCâs guidelines for large gatherings a private family graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
