Jerry Lee Bryant

Jerry Lee Bryant Sr., 76 of Logan, WV departed this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at his residence to enter his heavenly home. He was born June 18, 1944 at Logan, WV to the late George and RosieAnn Bryant. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Minnie Bell Bryant; sister, Vena Shepherd; brothers, Kenneth and Glen Bryant; brothers-in-law, James Shepherd and Freelin Vance Sr.; mother and father-in-law, Virgie and Woodrow Vance; niece, Vivian Rose Hager; nephews, Ronnie, Mitchell “Mikey” Shepherd, and Freelin “Bug” Vance Jr. Jerry was the former owner of M & J Tire Service. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, laughing and joking, and listening to music. He enjoyed passing on his knowledge and skills to his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his three children, Jerry “Buddy” (Missy) Bryant Jr. of Logan, WV, Sherry “Sissy” (Dave) Hale of Logan, WV, and Terry “Pig” (Stephen) Meade Sr. of Chapmanville, WV; eight grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Danielle Elizabeth (Grant) Dunford, Dahnara Rachelle Belcher (Alex Laws), , Tyler Craig Meade (Martha Adams), David “Bud” Michael Spurlock, Jerry “J” Lee Bryant III, Ridge Allen Lee Meade, Daniel Lee Thomas Belcher, and Mary Dunford; others that also loved and call him “Papaw”, Alex (Keith) and their children, Raelyn “Squirt” and Thomas “Baby Squirt”, Emily “Em”, Carl, Aubrey Jade, Hayden “Butterbean”, and Coal Madison. Also left to cherish his memory are two sisters-in-laws, Mary Vance of Abington, VA and Julia Ann Cline of Logan, WV; brother-in-law, William “Bill” R. Cline of Logan, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family, friends, and a special sidekick, his furbaby, Flash “Mr. Weenie”. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Rev. PJ Tomblin officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tyler Meade, David Spurlock, Jerry Bryant III, Ridge Meade, Daniel Belcher, and Alex Laws. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Meade Sr., Grant Dunford, Dave Hale, David “Whitey”, Larry, Terry “Carp”, Bill Cline and Kenneth “Buddy” Shepherd. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the Governor’s guidelines for large gatherings only 25 people will be allowed in the facility at one time. Please plan your visit accordingly as you may be asked to wait before entering the building. Face coverings are also required when inside the building and social distancing should be taken into consideration.
