Jerry Grant McAllister, 71, of Verdunville departed this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born July 1, 1949 at Justice Addition. He was the son of the late James William (Bill) McAllister and Hazel Vance McAllister. He was a 1968-69 graduate of Logan High School, a graduate of Southern WV Community College in 1990, and a graduate of Marshall University in 1994. He was a disabled coal mine construction worker last employed at F.M.C. Corporation, a member of the UMWA District 17, and a former member of AFL-CIA. Jerry enjoyed listening to his favorite music and creating his own play lists, playing checkers with family and friends, watching TV, especially football and old movies, and was an avid coin collector. He also loved family beach trips, family get-togethers, and gardening. He was of the Jehovahâs Witness faith.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are four brothers Dean Elkins, Larry McAllister, Robert (Bob) McAllister, and Johnny McAllister, two sisters Linda McAllister Hall and Pam McAllister Browning, two brothers-in-law Ken Perry and Ralph Dunevant, one niece Lesa Hall Smith, and one nephew Jeff Hall.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 49 years, Charlotte Williamson McAllister, two daughters, Audra (Lonnie) Conley of Verdunville and Shanna Beckett of Chapmanville, one son James Travis McAllister of Verdunville, Grandchildren, Alisha Tomblin of Logan, Kaylee Beckett of Chapmanville, Preston McAllister of Chapmanville, Alannah Conley of Verdunville, and Brooklynn Bowling of Chapmanville. Brothers Terry (Geraldine) McAllister of Henlawson, James McAllister of Sumpter SC, Charlie McAllister of Hilliard Ohio. Sisters, Betty (Arnold) Browning of Verdunville, Judy Dunevant of Mayfield Ky, Cherry Perry of Anchorage Alaska, Robin (Ed) Hicks of Hurricane. Brothers-in-law Danny Hall of Blair and Roger Browning of Verdunville and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Per his wishes, Jerryâs remains were cremated. Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan WV is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Jerryâs life will be held at Akers-James Funeral Home on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
