Jerry Edwin McNeely of Cross Lanes, WV, born July 27, 1941 in Crooked Creek, Logan, WV to Floyd McNeely and Ruth E. Whittman McNeely, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.
Jerry served in the United States military from 1963-1965 being stationed in Germany, Italy, France, and Switzerland. He retired from his position as a Body Shop Supervisor at General Motors in Wentzville, Missouri after over 30 years of work. He attended and volunteered at Cross Lanes Bible Church in Cross Lanes, WV.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Stella McNeely; son, Tim Smith; four brothers and 3 sisters. Loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris McNeely; daughter, Jeri E. McNeely of Nevada; daughter, Marsha (Scott) Myers of Hurricane, WV; son, Byron J. McNeely of Iowa; son, Darin E. (Trina) McNeely of Missouri; son, Zachary McNeely of Nevada; son, Glen Nida Jr. of Cross Lanes, WV; twin sister, Janice E. McNeely Staggs of California; sister, Helen B. McNeely Mullins of Kentucky; brother, James D McNeely of Tennessee; 13 grandkids; 11 great grandkids; and a host of extended family and friends.
Jerry was an avid deer hunter, loved to fish, and took trips across the country to hunt elk, deer, and wild boar. He loved being outdoors, always working in his garden and yard. Jerry was known for working outdoors in his neighborhood and helping others in need. It was not unusual for Jerry to be outside from morning to night.
Funeral services with military rites will be held at 6 p.m. Monday July 29, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Pastor Mark Boyd and Gary Johnson officiating. Honoring his wishes Jerryâs remains are to be cremated following the services.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
