John Roderick Samuels

John Roderick Samuels Jr., 57, of Holden went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2007 in the comfort of his home. He was of the Baptist Faith. John was born on October 17, 1950 in Oak Hill, WV a son of Dorothy Faye Leffel Samuels and the late John Roderick Samuels Sr. John was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Faye Honaker of Wytheville, Virginia. His paternal grandparents, John Henry and Mary Ethel (Crawford) Samuels. His maternal grandparents, Harold "Dutch" and Mary (Sweeney) Leffel with whom John spent many summers. Survivors include his devoted wife, Robin K. Samuels and two beloved daughters, Rena Samuels and Karen (Jason) Jordan both of Logan. Two brothers; Hugh (Debbie) Samuels of Roanoke, Virginia and David (Paula) Samuels of Newport News, Virginia. Four sisters; Brenda Hunter of Newport News, Jane Simms of Oak Hill, Shella Samuels and Barbara Fuller both of Hampton, Virginia. Also surviving are several beloved family members, including several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Hugh Samuels, David Samuels, David Thomas Samuels, Jason Jordan, Kenneth Lockhart and Denny Jude. Services will be performed by Rev. Layton Lockhart and Rev. Bobby Wooten. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. It is asked that visitation be only for immediate family. Condolences may be left at www.jamesfh.com.
