John C. Shriver

John Clarence Shriver 62 of McConnell, WV departed this life on Monday October 6, 2008 at Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1945 at Wharton, WV. He was the son of the late John T. Shriver and Mildred Shriver-Mocsary and the Step-son of the late Adam Mocsary. He was also preceded in death by his Father-in-law: Harley J. McClellan. He graduated from Nitro High School. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp having served a tour in Vietnam. Following his tour of duty and discharge, he returned home to work for Appalachian Power, the coal mining industry and retired from the State of West Viirginia as a Correctional Officer. He was an active member in the VVA and VFW. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and hanging out with his biker buddies at Morrison's Drive Inn. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years Margaret McClellan-Shriver. Three Daughters: Jonnie (Carl) Collins of Wichita Falls, Texas, Danielle Shriver of Charleston, WV and Staci Shriver (David Lusk) of McConnell, WV. Three Grandchildren: Bridgette Collins of Wichita Falls, Texas, Devin Shriver and Haleigh Lusk of McConnell, WV. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law Kathleen McClellan of McConnell, WV and a host of family members and friends.Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home on Thursday October 9, 2008 with Pastor John E. Godby officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV with Military Rites. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday October 8, 2008 at James Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be John Suttle, Michael Podunavac, Jerry Lee McClellan, David Meade, Ronnie Browning and Bill Browning. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry McClellan, Harlan Podunavac, Bill Suttle, Jerry Brown, Carl Collins Jr., David Lusk, Andy Clark and Rudy Varney.
