Joyce Ann Sheppard

Joyce Ann (Deer) Sheppard, age 69, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021, surrounded by her three loving children and sister, at her home in West Logan, West Virginia.

Born March 8, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Cecil P Deer, Sr and Leona (Rose) Deer. In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her loving husband, Harrison Sheppard, sisters Doris Muncey and Diana Conley. Stepdaughter, Angie Sheppard. Much loved granddaughter, Meagan Renee Allen.
Joyce is survived by her devoted daughter, Renee (Travis) Ison of Rossmore, West Virginia and sons, Tony Lee Deer of Logan, West Virginia, and Matthew Eugene (Kristen) Bryant, of Maryville, Illinois. Stepdaughter, Susie Sheppard of Toledo, Ohio. Stepson, Harrison Michael Sheppard of West Logan West Virginia. Her siblings, sister, Sharon Marcum of Logan, West Virginia. Brothers, Richard Edward (Sandra) Deer of North Spring, West Virginia, and Cecil (Goldie) Deer Jr. of Holden, West Virginia.
She was blessed with many beautiful grandchildren, Ryan Douglas Allen, Brandon Lee (Jasmine) Allen, Beau Ashton (Kayla) Allen, Tony Lee (Melinda) Deer, II, Stephanie Ann (Vandiver) Skelton, James Richard (Jessica) Deer, Emily Rose Deer, Kaitlyn Suzanne Illig, Perry (Penny) Graves, Gary Graves, Tiffany Baker, Josh (Lauren) Sheridan, Tony Sheridan, Ronica Jones, Marcus Jones, Harrison Michael (Natalie) Sheppard, II, James Lee Sheppard, and Joseph Nicholas Sheppard.
Family was very dear to Joyce. Because she loved so deeply and genuinely cared about everyone around her, she was loved deeply in return. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and 19 beloved great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank CAMC Cancer Center, and Dr. Chung from WVU Cancer Center, Morgantown. Thank you to Dr. Nicole Lackey and her wonderful staff for their excellent care. Also, our sincere heartfelt thankyou to her wonderful nurses from Dignity Hospice of Logan. Caleb, Jess, Ameilia, Richie, Jackie and Bryan. Thank you for your compassion and care.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Akers-James Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at a later date with the family.
