Larry Ray Bledsoe, 78 of McConnell, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1946, in Keokee Virginia, to the late Walter and Virginia Bledsoe. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Clyde Bledsoe and sister-in-law Lucy Bledsoe, Charles Isaac (Chuck) Bledsoe, and Brother-in-law Harold Green.
Larry Ray faithfully attended McConnell Tabernacle where he served as a Deacon for 50 years. He loved to garden growing pumpkins and veggies for canning, hunting and spending time in the mountain looking for ginseng and elderberries, fishing, collecting coins, telling stories and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He worked as a section foreman at Dehue Coal Corp. where he was also a Captain of the Mine Rescue Squad. Later he worked for Rawl Sales Mining Company. Larry graduated from Logan Sr. High School. He attended SWVCC and obtained his Associate Degree in Mining. Larry was a Vietnam Veteran where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Ranger, Flying Eagle Squad.
Larry was a member of the America Legion Post 19, Scottish Rite of Free-masonry 32° Aracoma Lodge # 99 Logan WV, Beni Kedem Shriner, Knights Templar Logan Commandry #26, and a Grand Chapter Royal Arch Mason of WV Logan #41.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Sheila (Motto) Bledsoe, Daughters- Lisa Stallard, Lori (Jared) Justice. His siblings- Ginger Green, Patty (Joe) St. Lawrence and his best friend since childhood Paul Pichardo.
Grandchildren – Michael (Chasity) Stallard, Ryan Mitchell (Amanda) Stallard, Michelle Stallard, Samuel Justice, Emma Justice
Great Grandchildren - Camille Stallard, Kylie Stallard, Braysen Stallard, Ashira Queen, and Navier Carter.
Also, a host of nieces, nephews (Dean Green-hunting buddy), family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Akers-James Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2024, Visitation Starting at 11 A.M. Service at I P.M. with Rev. Keith McClung officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum at Pecks Mill.
