Larry Joe Butcher 58 of Holden, WV died Thursday February 28, 2008 at his residence. Larry was born January 16, 1950 in Logan the son of Carmen and Betty Butcher of Holden. He attended Logan Sr. High School. After high school Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy.and served from 1968 through 1971 in the Vietnam War and was last stationed at Norfolk Naval Air Base in Norfolk, Va. After his discharge he attended Southern West Virginia Community College. He was a former employee of the Social Security Administration and Amherst Coal Company. In addition to his parents Larry is survived by his aunt: Jean Howe who he loved just like a mother. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Danny Dempsey of Duncan Fork, WV, his daughter and son-in-law: Rachael and Daryll Muncy of Marrowbone Creek, WV and daughter and son-in-law: Kayla and Mark Vance of Verdunville, WV, Five grandchildren: Jenna Danielle and Haylea Suzanne Dempsey, Jacob Curry, Blake Muncy and Nathan Vance. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by One Son, One Brother: Demas, his grandparents: Matilda and Tom McKinney and John and Hattie Butcher and Two very special cousins Joan and Kenny.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rocky Chafin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Military Graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Monday March 3, 2008 at James Funeral Home at Aracoma. Serving as pallbearers: Danny Dempsey, Haroldene Keener, Jeffrey Collins, James Allen Evans, James "Buggies" Richards and Oliver Jackson. Condolences may be sent to www.jamesfh.com.
