Leonard Lackey Jr., 89 of Culloden departed this life Monday January 22 at Teays Valley Center at Hurricane.
He was born August 2, 1928 at Henlawson, WV to the late Leonard Lackey Sr. and Bertie Jeffery. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his siblings, Clara Chappell, Lisa Stokely, Cecile Ellis, and David Lackey. He was also preceded in death by his grandchild, Brandon Bratton.
Mr. Lackey was employed by C&O Railroad. He was an Ordained Minister from West Logan Missionary Baptist Church. Leonard loved hunting and fishing and loved witnessing to others about Christ. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church of London, KY, he loved his family, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 69 years, Imogene Lackey; children, Thomas (Natasha) Lackey of London, KY, Linda (Dr. Dan) Trent of Point Pleasant, WV, and Berta Bratton of Culloden, WV; his brother, Dr. John (Delana) Lackey of Summersville, WV; his grandchildren, Drs. Lisa (Ryan) Newell, Daniel (Yunhui) Trent, Dr. T.C. (Kitty) Lackey, Ryan (Emily) Lackey, and Charlene Hunt. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and Baby Boy on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday January 24 at the West Logan Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Andrew Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends and family may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday also at the church.
