Linda Kay Lockhart

Linda Kay Lockhart went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2024 at Logan Regional Hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nora Compton; sisters, Peggy Sue, Iris ,and Wanda; brothers, Johnny, and Jackie; her in- laws, Rev. Clay and Phyllis Lockhart; brothers in law, Ray, Clayton (Toby), Michael, and Pat and her sister in law, Linda Sexton. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Rev. Layton Lockhart; her brother, Dale Compton; brother in law, Thurman Booth; sisters in law, Brenda, Patty, and Karen Lockhart, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and church family.

Linda was a virtuous, devoted,and valued member of Mt. Gay FWB church for 70 years. She was a light and example to her family, friends, community, and her church family. Linda gave her life to the Lord when she was 12 years old and has remained a faithful and true christian. She was the church Pastor’s wife for 46 years, and played the piano for the church for 60 years. The first song she learned and played at the church was Standing on the Promises. She was also a Sunday School teacher for 55 years. Linda touched many lives with her kind, generous and humble ways. She will be greatly missed by those who had the honor of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Mt. Gay Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. John Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, also at the church.

Pallbearers include Elijah Robinson, David Vance, Jerry Vance, Roy Newsome, Craig Blankenship, Colby Marcum, Rickey Sexton, and Ernie Woods.
