On Saturday March 29, 2025 Lucille Evans aka “Lula Belle” was called to live in her mansion with her Heavenly Father.
Lucille was born on August 13, 1937, in Tyler, AL to the late Temyer and Leitha Ann Evans.
Lucille accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member at Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Holden, WV and she attended various district meetings in the Guyan Valley District of the WV Baptist State Convention. She was on the “Resolution Ministry” with Guyan Valley Church Association for many years. Lucille sang in the District Chore Association A&B Choir. She was an usher at Great Mt. Zion Church.
Lucille was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.) Electa Prince Hall Grand Chapter of Logan, WV.
Lucille was preceded in death by her son, Michael Anthony Evans, and her parents, along with her sisters Mae Della (SE) Franklin, Rosa B. (Nat) Witsell, Bertha (Roland) Tyler, and her brothers; Andrew Evans, Willie (Marsha) Olds, Eddie Evans one nephew, Roland “Vincent” Tyler and, one grandson Brendan Evans.
Lucille is survived by her children Paula Hamlet of Bowie, MD, Paul Evans (Elaine) of Logan, WV, Christine Evans of Logan, WV, and Squire Lee (Pamela) Evans of Wilkesboro, NC, and grandchildren Bryn, Tamisha, Anthony, Derrick, Brooke, Conchete, Eshukii, Shawnica, Tyrone, Yazmine, Mariesha, Emanuel and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Johnnie Mae (Frank) Thompson and Evonne (Gerald) Dotson along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Viewing will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
