Mark Dowden

Mark Dwayne Dowden 49 of Lyburn departed this life on Saturday January 8, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston following a battle with an extended illness. He was born March 11, 1961 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was a proud hard working coal miner who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He also loved to travel and watch his children play sports. He is preceded in death by his parents the late Clifford and Zona Stafford Dowden both of Lyburn. He is survived by one son Mark Dowden II of Lyburn, one daughter Kelli (Josh) Vance also of Lyburn, one brother Clifford Howard (Barb) Dowden of Columbus, Ohio, two sisters Janice Maynard of Waverly, Ohio and Niwanna (Mick) Baisden of Verdunville. The mother of his children Lisa Ellison, 2 granddaughters Taylor and Baylee Vance. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and family members especially Cody and Lexi Baisden and Jaida Frye. A memorial service will be held Thursday January 13, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barney Goins officiating. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.
