Mary Jane Carter Samson

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Jane Carter Samson announces her sudden passing on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the age of 67. Born in Mullens, W. Va. in 1952, Mary graduated from Logan High School in 1970 and managed State Electric Supply in McConnell. Mary enjoyed working within the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Nighbert United Methodist Church, finding particular fulfillment in children’s activities, leading Vacation Bible School, and in Women’s Fellowship. Mary will be forever remembered by her high school sweetheart and husband of 44 years, John Tennyson Samson, and their son Mark Justin (Sarah) Samson. Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters Beth (Guy) McGovern and Nancy Bane, her sister in law Karen “Kris” Samson and brother in law Douglas “Randy” (Joyce) Samson. Mary will be fondly remembered by her extended family and dear friends. Graveside services will be held 12 pm Tuesday, May 21 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6 pm to 9 pm Monday, May 20 at Akers-James Funeral Home in Logan, W. Va. Mary’s indomitable spirit, fierce loyalty, and unwavering support will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
