Nevada Sue (Smith) Crittenden, 75 of Verdunville, WV departed this life to be with the Lord Thursday, July 9, 2020 at UK Chandler Hospital at Lexington, KY.
She was born December 27, 1944 at Logan, WV to the late Arlie Homer and Dixie (Wooten) Smith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Crittenden; five sisters, Joan Smith Fitzpatrick, Virginia May Smith Runyon, Loreaine Smith Limming, Carolyn Reba Smith McCoy, and Betty Jane Smith; brother, Arlie Smith Jr.; and her longtime companion and friend, Orvil Tomblin.
Nevada Sue was a member of the Mudfork Freewill Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir with her Christian friends. She loved wild animals and she liked to grow flowers and vegetables. She also loved to go fishing with her brother Jerry and loved her cat Garfield. They had a ball together. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to cook and make fried apple pies and have special dinners with her brother Jerry and his wife Martha J. Nevada Sue will be missed by all her family and many friends. She touched many and now has a new home in Heaven where you will find sweet rest in the arms of Jesus.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Mason Jerry (Martha J.) Smith; stepson, Curtis (Kathy) Tomblin; stepdaughters, Brenda (Mike) Weddington and Stephanie Browning. She is also survived by all of her church sisters and brothers and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Mudfork Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Elbert Junior Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Tomblin Cemetery at Verdunville. Friends and family may call after 3 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2020 at the church.
