Okla McDonald 92 of Crooked Creek passed away Wednesday February 4, 2009 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 21, 1916 on Bear Creek in West Hamlin. She was the second child of nine children born to the late Wilson Arthur and Stella Elizabeth Adkins Ray. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas McDonald, One Brother Amos Ray and Five Sisters Alice Ray, Mary Stollings, Annabelle Hager, Claudia Turner and Erma Ray Lilly Butcher. Mrs. McDonald graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1934. She was a member of the girl's basketball and track teams. She worked in a government program in 1935 teaching Math and English in adult night school at Henlawson and Garretts Fork of Big Creek. She also taught nursery school in a government program on Mud Fork. Some of her other jobs were Logan County Court House Circuit clerks office, G.C. Murphy's, Dime Store, Aracoma Drug, First Federal Savings and Loan and was retired from Sears after 15 years.Mrs. McDonald was a long time member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ where over the yaers she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was Church treasurer for 25 years. She was also a member of the hospital auxillary and treasurer of Women's Fellowship. Survivors include One Son: Roger McDonalld (Sharon) of Scott Depot, One Daughter Judith Wayne (John) of Cincinnati, Ohio, One Sister Jean Ray of Chapmanville, One Brother: Scott Ray (Shelia) of Winchester, Ky., 5 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 7, 2009 at 12:00 P.M. at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ with Minister Tim Secrist officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Dignity Hospice P.O.
