Patricia Hodge Carroll

Patricia “Patty” Hodge Carroll, 70, of Lyburn, departed this life, Mon., April 21, 2015, at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born January 25, 1945, Patty was the fourth of six daughters of the late Roma and Ella Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Herndon, and her sister, Elizabeth Valentine. Patty was a legal secretary who retired in 2009. Before being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis shortly after her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time with family, crafting and planting her annual vegetable garden. She was Valedictorian of her 1962 graduating class of Man High School. Those left to cherish his memory include her son, Phillip Harvey and his daughter Lydia of Murfreesboro, TN; her daughter, Leatha Mullins of Vero Beach, FL; her step-daughter, Robin Nelson of Melville; her son-in-law, Danny Herndon, Jr. of Switzer; her grandson, Zachery Herndon and his wife, Heather, and their two daughters, Bella and Becca, of Huntington; and her grandson, Joshua Herndon of Columbia, SC.; four sisters, Dorothy Altizer of Cyclone; Glenna Kennedy of Chapmanville; Alice Sloan of Simpsonville, KY; and Judy Farmer of Omar, and a host of other dear family, friends, and neighbors. A memorial service will be held on Sat, April 25 at 10 am in the Chapel at James Funeral Home, 400 Main Ave, Logan, WV with Pastor Richard Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Patty will be carried to rest by family members. Visitation will be held on Fri, April 24 from 6 pm to 9 pm at the funeral home.
