Ronald Bruce McClure, 89, of Logan passed away December 30 at his home attended by his family.
He was born in Huntington, WV, on November 30, 1934, son of the late Girrard Corren McClure and Helen Thompson McClure.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Patricia "Peggy" McClure, "Sweet" as he always called her, who passed in July.
Ronald graduated from Huntington East High School and attended Marshall University before joining the United States Army. A Korean War Veteran, he served in the Alaska Territory during the war. Ronald retired from CSX Railroad after nearly 30 years as a Conductor/Brakeman for C&O/CSX working from the Peach Creek Yard.
He was a member of West Logan Missionary Baptist Church where he was married in 1958 and served as a Sunday School Teacher. While his health permitted, Ronald was a proud member of the Logan Lion's Club, the Logan Country Club, and the Pinnacle and Crescent Towers II HOAs in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
A devoted husband and father, Ronald resided in Crooked Creek for 60 years. He enjoyed traveling with his family, spending time with friends and church family, attending sporting events, gardening, and tending to his properties.
He is survived by his daughter, Ronna McClure of Logan, daughter, Lisa (Bennie) Prichard of Chapmanville, and his granddaughter, Skylar (Daniel) Lloyd of Troutville, VA.
Funeral services were held at 1 pm Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Akers-James Funeral Home with Minister Bill McDonald officiating. Burial with military rites followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation was from 12 pm until the time of the service Thursday.
