Ruth Markins Kerns, 84, of Pensacola Fla., formerly of West Logan, went home peacefully to be with Jesus and her precious husband, Joe, on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Born August 3, 1923, at Hughey, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lizzie Markins. In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlson Markins and Charles Markins, and two sisters, Naomi Markins and Drusie Williams. Ruth was an employee of The Logan Banner in the 1940s and, and was later employed at Watsonâs Department Store in Logan. She was a member of the West Logan Church of God. Ruth lived her life in West Logan until the passing of her husband, Joe, on August 16, 2005. Afterwards she moved to Florida to be with with her daughter and son-in-law. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria (Bob) Thomas of Pensacola; one son, Gary (Wenda) Kerns of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, Robin Thomas Trussell, Dawn Thomas, Tara Hughes, Tiffany Adams, and Joseph Wendell Kerns; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Sellards and Mary Markins; several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Danny Sellards, and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8, 2007 at the James Funeral Home Chapel at Aracoma with her son-in-law, Rev. Bob Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the funeral home.
