Sam Starr

Sam Starr Jr., 80 of Lake, WV departed this life Friday, November 23, 2019 at Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1939 at Delbarton, WV to the late Leonard and Alice (Maynard) Starr. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife Sarah Starr; daughters, Deborah Starr and Pamela Hendricks; granddaughter, Rachel Davis; sisters, Betty Marcum and Goldie Messer; and brother, William Starr. Mr. Starr was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He loved hunting and the outdoors. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Parsons) Starr; children, Ernest (Crystal) Starr, Tammy (Stanley) Hendricks, and Kimberly (Hansford) Bailey; grandchildren, Sam (Samantha) Bailey, Chris Bailey, Barbara Hall, Kenneth Hendricks, Timothy (Amanda) Starr, Ernest Starr Jr., and Mary (Steff) Hendricks; son-in-law, Rick Hendricks; grandson-in-law, JD Davis; 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Harrison Starr officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
