Sidney David Crum, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 25, 2024, at CAMC Memorial in Charleston. Born on July 24, 1952, in Logan, West Virginia to Hazel and Sidney Crum, he was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering love for family and his passion for building and cooking.
Sidney's hands were as skilled with tools as they were with spatulas; he found joy in creating both tangible structures and delicious meals that brought people together. His home was often filled with the aroma of hearty dishes simmering on the stove while laughter echoed through the halls—a testament to his ability to foster warmth wherever he went.
He is survived by his devoted daughter April Bevino and cherished grandson James May. Sidney’s legacy also lives on through his loving siblings: Ruby Spradlin and Lucy Crum; along with brother Kenny Crum. He joins those who have gone before him—his parents Hazel and Sidney Crum; brothers Donald and Ronald Crum; sister Shelia Crum; and nephew Shane Vance—in eternal rest.
Family meant everything to Sidney. He took immense pride in being a supportive figure for April as she navigated life's challenges while nurturing her own family. His bond with James was particularly special—filled with shared adventures that will forever be etched in their hearts.
A funeral service celebrating Sidney's life will be held at AkersJames Funeral Home in West Logan on January 5th at 1 PM. Friends are invited to gather together during this time of remembrance—to share stories of love forged over meals prepared from scratch or projects built side-by-side under the sunlit sky.
As we say goodbye to this remarkable man who touched so many lives through kindness and creativity, let us remember him not just for what he accomplished but for how deeply he loved those around him. In our hearts forevermore rests the spirit of Sidney David Crum—a true craftsman of life itself.
