Teresa Thompson

Teresa Thompson, 65 of Ypsilanti, MI gained her angel wings as she passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

She was born November 2, 1959, in Logan, WV to Woodrow and Pauline (Nelson) Thompson, however she credited her Christian upbringing to her foster parents, Oscar and Harriet Sansom.

Teresa was disabled, she lasted worked at Pollard Bank as a press operator. She has fought the battle with cancer twice within the past twenty years. Cancer had returned again to her body, but death did not have the final say, victory was attained through our Lord Jesus Christ. Teresa loved butterflies, and her 2012 Chevy Silverado, which she pampered like a child.

Teresa is survived by her sister, Sandy Thompson of Logan and brother, Mark Thompson of Wichita Falls, TX. Survivors also include special nieces and nephews, Christina, Jacob, and Karli Thompson, Cherrie Nelson, and Angie Wagner all of Logan. In addition, Teresa is survived by a nephew, Austin Thompson of El Paso, TX. Teresa is also survived by her special roommate, Patricia Combs, who was also her faithful caregiver when needed.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm at Akers-James Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2025, with Rev. Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be special nephews David, Zach, and Jacob Nelson, and Jacob Thompson. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First Christian Church of Logan’s Kitchen Fund.
