Thomas V. Fortune Sr., 80 of West Logan, WV departed this Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his residence.
He was born June 20, 1940 at Henlawson, WV to the late Winifred and Edith Fortune Hinchman. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, D.W. Hinchman, son, Thomas V. Fortune II; brothers, Jack Fortune and Paul Fortune; sisters, Sue Ann Fortune, and Nancy Fortune Lilly; sisters-in-law, Norma Fortune and Elouine Fortune.
Tom lived his whole life in the Logan area and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan.
He is survived by his wife, Annetta Fortune; son, David R. Fortune; daughters-in-law, Melissa Fortune and Tiffany Fortune; brother, James Fortune; sisters-in-law, Pauline Fortune and Sharon Fortune; grandchildren, Rachael Fortune, Sara Fortune, Bryce Fortune, and Owen Fortune.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan. A private family committal service will be held in the Jones-Adkins Family Cemetery at Branchland following the visitation.
Pallbearers will be David, Bryce, and Owen Fortune, Josh Ison, Shane Vance, and Luke Lovejoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon âBuddyâ Ferrell and Ernie Bevins.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Logan.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the Governorâs guidelines for large gatherings only 25 people will be allowed in the facility at one time. Please plan your visit accordingly as you may be asked to wait before entering the building. Face coverings are also required when inside the building and social distancing should be taken into consideration.
