Wanda Hughes, 87 of Monaville passed away on Friday June 22, 2018 at the Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville, WV.
She was born on May 20, 1931 at Grey Eagle, WV to the late Floyd and Gracie Smith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her husband, Jack Hughes; sons, Jackie Ray and Keith Edward Hughes.
Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
She is survived by four children: Gary (Brenda) Hughes of Huntington, Brenda Sue Hall of Columbus, OH, Diana Toney of Monaville, and Gregory Shawn Hughes of Monaville; 5 borthers, Albert Smith, Donald Smith, Floyd Smith Jr., Lonnie Smith, and Kenny Smith; 1 sister, Sharon Sparks; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special neighbors, Donna Damron, Sharon Wooten, Ashley Robinette, and Ralph Sturgill. The family would like to acknowledge Jerry âBoâ Browning for his valuable help during Mrs. Hughesâ illness, along with Kelli Fortune, and Brenda Goodman Hughes. The family would also like to thank the staff of Dignity Hospice, and Dr. K. Kanauri for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday June 27, 2018 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Lonnie Smith and Jody Bias officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday June 26, 2018 also at the funeral home.
